Society or human society is the manner or condition in which the members of a community live together for their mutual benefit. By extension, society denotes the people of a region or country, sometimes even the world, taken as a whole.

Used in the sense of an associaton, a society is a body of individuals outlined by the bounds of functional interdependence, possibly comprising characteristics such as national or cultural identity, social solidarity, language or hierarchical organization. Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals sharing a distinctive culture and institutions. Like other communities or groups, a society allows its members to achieve needs or wishes they could not fulfill alone.

A society, however, may be ontologically independent of, and utterly irreducible to, the qualities of constituent individuals; it may act to oppress. The urbanization and rationalization inherent in some, particularly Western capitalist, societies, has been associated with feelings of isolation and social "anomie".

More broadly, a society is an economic, social or industrial infrastructure, made up of a varied collection of individuals. Members of a society may be from different ethnic groups. A society may be a particular ethnic group, such as the Saxons; a nation state, such as Bhutan; a broader cultural group, such as a Western society. The word society may also refer to an organized voluntary association of people for religious, benevolent, cultural, scientific, political, patriotic, or other purposes. A "society" may even, though more by means of metaphor, refer to a social organism such as an ant colony.

What society has been discovering about you?
Q. We all live in society, the society has to offer many things. At the same time, society evaluates you as a 'thing'. In other words, it finds out what are you are made up of, what you like to take from society, what you can offer etc... as per as the particular society is concerned. Yes, we live in many societies simultaneously and each society may have different opinion/discovery about you.

A. the society hardly discovers anything. it is only individuals who by their word and deed introduce themselves and even market themselves. on social relations, it is the constant interactions that determine acceptability or otherwise. Only parents or guardians take active interest during childhood. to others, a person actively introduces himself. others need no discover anything.

what should society do to prevent innocent people from being accused and presumed guilty in the future?
Q. Many innocent people are being accused of crimes/sins they did not commit. They stay in the jail for years and they are innocent people, so how can society prevent these people from being accused if they are not guilty?

A. To prevent them from being accused? There is next to nothing. I mean it would be great if eyewitness accounts were perfect. It would be great if we could get DNA evidence or perfect fingerprints every time and everyone's DNA and fingerprints were in a National Database(and I DON'T support that being done, I believe in a right to privacy if you have yet to do anything to get them put in that database). To help end the assumption of guilt I DO have an idea that would help. Let's stop broadcasting that the person has been accused of a crime. Let's start worrying publishing the name AFTER the person is found guilty.

How do you make yourself more acceptable to society?
Q. I have always been an outcast to society. How can I fit in? I hate it how all my friends are weirdos too - the nerds, overweight women, homosexuals, ex-criminals. How can I get more socially acceptable friends? Why don't I fit in with the rest of society?

A. On a personal, individual level, everyone feels like an outcast. But we don't always see that because people do well to hide it. And when most have tried to hide it, they have ended up losing themselves to the crowd. I think that's how society works nowadays. It's all a big lie and facade. Is that how you want to live your life? I have always been an outcast. And while I have had my moments of lament, straying to the crowd, finding myself alone again, I've resolved that life is simply better not caring what everyone else thinks of me, whether or not they accept me. I have personally reserved those cares for God. And as far as I know, society's not exactly the best example of how I want to live my life. How about you? Ask yourself what… [cont.]
