New Zealand is an island country in the south-western Pacific Ocean comprising two main landmasses (the North Island and the South Island), and numerous smaller islands, most notably Stewart Island/Rakiura and the Chatham Islands. The indigenous Māori language name for New Zealand is Aotearoa, commonly translated as The Land of the Long White Cloud. The Realm of New Zealand also includes the Cook Islands and Niue (self-governing but in free association); Tokelau; and the Ross Dependency (New Zealand's territorial claim in Antarctica). New Zealand is notable for its geographic isolation: it is situated about 2,000 kilometres (1,200 mi) southeast of Australia across the Tasman Sea, and its closest neighbours to the north are New Caledonia, Fiji and Tonga. During its long isolation New Zealand developed a distinctive fauna dominated by birds, a number of which became extinct after the arrival of humans and the mammals they introduced. The majority of New Zealand's population is of European descent; the indigenous Māori are the largest minority. Asians and non-Māori Polynesians are also significant minority groups, especially in urban areas. The most commonly spoken language is English. New Zealand is a developed country that ranks highly in international comparisons on many topics, including education, economic freedom, and lack of corruption. Its cities also consistently rank among the world's most liveable. Elizabeth II, as the Queen of New Zealand, is the country's head of state and is represented by a Governor-General, and executive political power is exercised by the Cabinet of New Zealand. I've applied for an Indian Tourist visa and didn't realise that my passport expires in June (6 months). I'm planning to go to India in Feb or March which would mean my passport only had 3-4months left on it. How long does my New Zealand passport need to be valid for to gain entry into India? and is it possible to get my Tourist Visa transferred to a new passport? Help please! Asked by Nisa - Fri Dec 11 01:11:20 2009 - - 1 Answers - 2 Comments A. Your passport needs to be valid on arrival in India; the required validation of the passport for at least 6 months only had applied to the visa application. Since you also need a valid passport to get back home it actually must be vadlid during your entire journey. Once you apply for a new passport you can just travel with both passports the expired one which contains the visa and the new one which is valid. .. However you can also have the visa sticker to be transferred to your new passport at the Indian High Commission in Wellington at a fee of $15. .. You must prove to the Police that you are a "Fit and Proper" person, which means; no convictions, good character and referees who can attest to that. Then you fill in the form. Of course you must have a drivers licence, before you get your passenger service (passenger) licence. You must demonstrate that you know all the law, all the geography of the area in which you intend to work, and can handle a vehicle with precision. It may take 6 months. If you are the owner of the vehicle being used, your must hold a passenger service (vehicle) licence too. These vehicles are subject to very strict and rigid engineering and safety standards called a CoF. Q. I'm wanting to buy something for my boyfriend in New Zealand, and it would be much cheaper in shipping to buy it from a New Zealand website. All the ones I've seen so far won't let you purchase anything with an American credit card. Any tips? Asked by _[ ]_Miranda_[ ]_ - Tue Mar 2 22:07:59 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I'm surprised that any site in NZ refuses to accept an American credit card as long as it is an internationally recognised one such as say Visa or Mastercard. Sometimes website retailers won't accept a delivery address that is not the one registered as the billing address, but that is also becoming less common. Can you let me know which retailers' websites you have tried and I will take a look and see if I can get some information for you.
