A. Eschatology... yes. It concerns more on the study of the "End Time." The word eschatology comes from the Greek word meaning "eschaton" or last. It is a favorite discussion in philosophy and theology. It deals with questions like, what will happen at the end of the world? Is there life after death? In the field of science or natural science, it studies about what may happen at the end of the lifespan of the universe. Theories about the black hole is part of this.

What are, and how can the main teachings, in the Bible, of eschatology be applied to the daily Christian life?
Q. I understand eschatology (I think) but how can one break down the teachings in the Bible to a few main points? Also, what does the Bible say about the applicability of these teachings in our daily lives as Christians? I am writing an essay for a Lutheran Theology class and I am completely stuck as to how to tackle the structure. Thanks for everyone's help!

A. Eschatology is the study of the end times. Lutheran position: The "a" millennial (literally meaning "no" millennium) position is the eschatological view of historic Catholic, Lutheran and Reformed Christianity. Amillennialists believe that the promises made to national Israel, David and Abraham, in the OT are fulfilled by Christ and the Church during this age, which is the millennium, that is the entire period of time between the two advents of our Lord. The "thousand years" are therefore symbolic of the entire inter-advental age. Why do some churches avoid theology and eschatology?
Q. Do you think that more people would be interested in God if these two subjects were taught in detail?
Asked by nomoresclerosis - Tue Jan 13 20:00:55 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Easy: It is far easier to teach what you want sheep to learn. Anybody that ever started a cult learned that only a small percentage ever questioned. No. I took a class in Philosophy of Religion at a Methodist College. It was by far the most fascinating class I ever took. Aristotle was right about the circular course of humans. I think maybe if religions want to keep the intelligent members, they should offer the obscure. The other 90%? It is easier to keep them in the dark. They can be more controlled that way.

What are some similarities between Christian and Hindu eschatology?
Q. Also what are some major differences?
Asked by David - Sat Nov 15 23:09:43 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. As far as I know, Hindus believe in reincarnation, and that after death, some good people will be united to god, meaning they will become divine. Both of these ideas are unlike anything in Christian eschatology, so apart from the fact that both believe in an afterlife and in a soul, they seem very different.

Asked by x.sassy_girl - Sun Apr 20 09:11:51 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Prophecy can relate to any time in history - or to none at all! It doesn't only cover 'foretelling' but also 'forth telling' - which is why you see most of the OT prophets warning their contemporaries to change their ways or face the consequences - besides telling them things which would definitely happen such as the Messiah's arrival. Eschatology is actual study of the 'end times' - whilst this does include the fulfillment of prophecy, it is more theologically based, for example examining what will happen, how it will take place and in what order.

Eschatology vs scatology?
Q. Anyone else find this interesting: Eschatology sounds very much like scatology. Eschatology is the religious doctrine of the "end time" and scatology is the study of feces. Bovine scatology would involve the study of bull feces. The capital letter E vaguely resembles a bulls horns. The letter h is often silent in many words where upon it features. Cholera, for example. I invite you to make your own interpretation of my miraculous revelations and to write them down for later generations to be reveled by the wisdom's contained therein. And that my dear, is how we go about things here.

Do you think all eschatology - new heaven etc is complete nonsense?
Q. The book of Revelation is apocalyptic literature. Such a style of writing occurred in times of crisis when it appeared as if God had deserted the believers and as a consequence they were suffering and dying. The cognitive dissonance of the style is that God has not gone but is merely absent for a while and will return and all those who died will get a second chance! We are speaking literature and psychology here. There is absolutely no sense of "what will be". Why is it that some people let eschatological theology influence their thinking? It is complete and utter nonsense.

Is this an example of eschatology or eschatological teaching?
Q. Malachi 2:3 "Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it." There are so many inspiring verses in the Bible. I'm glad it's my moral compass.
