A. From what I've read, that's bad reception on the antenna. Here's a quote from an article on Yahoo this very moment: "Some people might also need new antennas, because digital signals travel differently than analog ones. While a weakly received analog channel might be viewable through some static, channels broadcast in the digital language of ones and zeros are generally all or nothing: If they don't come in perfectly, they are blank or they show a stuttering picture that breaks apart into blocks of color. Indeed, one of Bruchalski's newly available stations had that pixelated look, and Ebling said she might have to get a different antenna." Here's the link Hope that helps.

Who is already viewing digital television without cable? What's your experience so far?
Q. I just hooked up my girlfriend's digital television and it seems to be working pretty good. The picture is perfect, however it does freeze sometimes due to temporary signal loss. Anyone else experience the same thing? Are they expected to increase the power of these digital television stations in the future considering all broadcast analog transmissions are ending in February, 2008. I meant 2009. I can't get these years straight anymore. I miss the 80's . LOL

A. I've seen this. As far as any solution for the next 12 months, you have to look at adjusting your antenna or possibly replacing it with a better model. Hopefully her new DTV has a signal quality meter to help you adjust the antenna. Until the 2/09 analog shutdown, there are a lot of digital stations that are transmitting with reduced power to prevent interference with analog transmissions. Quite a few digital stations will also switch frequencies after the analog shutdown. Higher power levels will not fix every signal quality problem. TV signals reflect off of and bend around objects. A lot of problems have to do with multiple reflected signals arriving at the same time (this causes "ghosts" in analog TV). This can corrupt the digital… [cont.]
