Conceptions of God can vary widely, despite the use of the same term for them all.

The God of monotheism, pantheism or panentheism, or the supreme deity of henotheistic religions, may be conceived of in various degrees of abstraction:

Monotheist conceptions of God appear in the Hellenistic period, out of predecessor concepts of monism (mostly in Eastern religions) and henotheism.

A. No John B, that is the concept of God. You guys are no different from kids who believe in Santa Claus. Your brains are in arrested development but we, the atheists and agnostix, are your reality check and don't try to hide from us

Q. Is it a fair and balanced view overall of different conceptions of God?
Asked by Simbha - Mon Nov 16 17:02:59 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It's more balanced than many but it still seems to be written from the idea that there is only one god, that it is implicitly the christian god, and that other societies have seen this god but described it from their own point of view. He also limits himself to major, traditional, religions, cutting out many other religious points of view.

Does "a man with super powers" basically sum up the Christian conception of "God"?
Q. Really, look at the stories. Rather than explaining the universe or looking forward to important moral issues like genetic research, you have a portrayal that is very similar to, say, a Superman or Dr. Strange. Doesn't it seem a little childish after you've seen billions of miles into space and observed a distant nebula through a telescope?
