Is Portland, Maine a good place to live?
Q. I live in Georgia. I hate hot weather and I enjoy snow (but we RARELY get that here) and the fall. I want to move somewhere north. Preferably by the sea. And I don't like big cities but more medium sized with a historical feel. And I was wondering if someone who's lived in Portland or visited it will give me some advice about the city.

A. i live in portland..yes its a great place to live and unfortunately it's not a secret anymore either--lots of people moved here from somewhere else in the last 10 years (jacked the prices up)...portland is very lively for a small city (only 70,000) and in the summer months that number practically doubles due to summer tourists...it definitely has a lot of history (lighthouses, military forts, historic waterfronts, etc) and it is right on the ocean

'God', homosexuality, and marriage?
Q. So, I've been reading a lot of posts on here from christians who think homosexuality is a sin. They seem to think they created marriage, because it's traditionally been a religios institution. May I remind you all that the marriage existed before judiasm, before chrsitianity, before islam. We have historical proof of this, so please don't try to counter with 'the bible says this' that doesn't mean squat. But for those of you who can't resist might I remind you if you're going to deny gay marriae based on the bibles verse "A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 " then may I ask how many homosexuals you've killed?… [cont.]

A. You were almost there then missed the most important thing about marriage!! It is nothing to do with the church but is governed by the law of the land and it has always been so. Whilst churches can carry out the marriage service they can only do so in compliance with the civil law. If they breach the civil law they commit a criminal offence and the marriage is nul and void!!

i don't understand these sentence mean help me please...?
Q. what do these sentence mean? (this is about the crucible) 1) This play is not history in the sense in which the word is used by the academic historian 2)In what medium have you seen the concept based on a true strory 3)symbolized them all in Hathorne and Danforth 4)The fate of each character is exactly that of his historical model..." 5)Sources if varying reliability that's it help please if u want the story here it is.. thanks

A. 5. Some sources are reliable (known to be accurate), and some are not. 4. Each character in the play is based on someone who actually lived. Each character in the play has been given the same fate as that of the person upon whom the character is based. For example, if the person was exonerated, the character is exonerated; if the person was executed by hanging, the character is executed by hanging. 3. I have no idea what this one is about: who/what are "them;" and are Hathorne and Danforth people? towns? Clarify please. 2. 'Medium,' in this sense of the word, is the singular form of 'media.' In which media (film, video, print, etc.) have you seen it said that something was 'based on a true story'? Hint: think movie and TV… [cont.]
