From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. God is a deity in theistic and deistic religions and other belief systems, representing either the sole deity in monotheism, or a principal deity in polytheism. God is most often conceived of as the supernatural creator and overseer of the universe. Theologians have ascribed a variety of attributes to the many different conceptions of God. The most common among these include omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, omnibenevolence (perfect goodness), divine simplicity, and eternal and necessary existence. God has also been conceived as being incorporeal, a personal being, the source of all moral obligation, and the "greatest conceivable existent". These attributes were all supported to varying degrees by the early Jewish, Christian and Muslim theologian philosophers, including Maimonides, Augustine of Hippo, and Al-Ghazali, respectively. Many notable medieval philosophers developed arguments for the existence of God. Many notable philosophers and intellectuals have, by contrast, developed arguments against the existence of God. So if some how you were always happy (yes, i know, a paradox because happiness i relative) even if God sent you to hell, and you were still happy there, God wouldn't have power over you, would he? Unless He is omnipotent and can somehow force you to be unhappy, but some say he doesn't violate free will. And suposedly, smiling for 60 seconds makes you happy. So, can God defeat eternal happiness ( :) > God?)? LtColonel, it seems like an awfuly lot of people woship God so they will be blessed or go to heaven. Just listining to religious things, you will hear an abudance of thngs like: "go good and you will be blessed"… [cont.] Asked by lufiabuu - Thu Jun 28 12:48:44 2007 - - 12 Answers - 19 Comments A. Dear lufiabuu - If I understand you correctly, you are suggesting that the only reason a person would worship God would be to attain happiness. God never says, "worship Me and you will be happy because I will take away all of your troubles". God allows trials and unhappy things to happen to us to test our faith. Will we still love Him if unhappy things are occurring in our lives? For me the answer is yes. His will for my life is the best, I cannot come up with a better plan than what God has planned for me. No one is going to be continually happy all the time, life is a series of ups and downs. How we act and react during the unhappy times tells a lot about what we place our faith in. My faith is firmly placed in God and my salvation… [cont.] Answered by redeemed - Thu Jun 28 13:06:22 2007 Does God think trying to make a better situation is selfish? Q. Since we moved I've been laid off more than working for a little bit more than a year. My husband has a job (Thank God) and we are planning to more back so perhaps I have a better opportunity for work. But as the move becomes closer, I'm beginning to have second thoughts on moving. My husband tells me to have faith in God and our move will work out okay. I'm worried that perhaps the Lord looks at us as selfish for trying to make our situation better when others have it worse. What do you think? Asked by Mamacita - Fri Jan 9 09:30:32 2009 - - 6 Answers - 2 Comments A. God wants what best for you and your family. My wife and I always pray for God's will in our life and situations. We ask God to open or close doors to help us make the proper decision. God if you want us to go...make it easy for us to see; God if you want us to stay close the doors of opportunities. We want to be in an area that God wants us in and do the things God wants us to do. Hope this helps...also get others to pray for you. Answered by blue317 - Fri Jan 9 09:39:57 2009 How has God used the circumstances of your life to teach you to be humble?
