D is the fourth letter in the Latin alphabet. Its name in English (pronounced /diː/) is spelled dee, plural dees.

History

Egyptian hieroglyph door Proto-Semitic Dal, Daleth Phoenician Daleth Etruscan D Greek Delta Roman D

The Semitic letter Dâlet probably developed from the logogram for a fish or a door. There are various Egyptian hieroglyphs that might have inspired this. In Semitic, Ancient Greek, and Latin, the letter was pronounced /d/; in the Etruscan alphabet the letter was superfluous but still retained (see letter B). Greek letter: Δ (capital) or δ (small) (Delta).

The minuscule (lower-case) form of D consists of a loop and a tall vertical stroke. It developed by gradual variations on the majuscule (capital) form. In handwriting, it was common to start the arc to the left of the vertical stroke, resulting in a serif at the top of the arc. This serif was extended while the rest of the letter was reduced, resulting in an angled stroke and loop. The angled stroke slowly developed into a vertical stroke.

I'd like to start cooking & eating more fish- how do I start?
Q. I've really only eaten fish that I've caught myself- trout and perch, some catfish. I like all of those, especially pan fried. But I'd like to start eating fish for the health benefits. Any tips?

A. Check online to which fish has the lowest mercury. Some fish like swordfish or tuna has mercury, so you want to limit your intake. I love swordfish grilled on my little indoor grill. Serve with new potatoes boiled in chicken broth and California mix, steamed. Or an orange roughy fillet would be good with lemon, butter and garlic over it and bake it. A nice rice pilaf and green beans to the side would be yummy.

I'd like to start my own eBay business, are there any good books or websites to help me get started?
Q. Initially I just thought I'd try using drop shippers etc but need a basic step by step guide on the whole process.
Asked by Apple - Tue Apr 8 18:22:48 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. All you need to do is use the Ebay tutorials on their site and research all the buying, selling and shipping tips they give. Also they keep you updated with messages in 'MY Ebay' section for you. Also, check out other peoples listings and use their ideas for templates. You can ask people questions about their experiences with Ebay with the ask a question link on their auction pages.. I believe books and other websites have the same basic info as Ebay...but if you're looking for tips and suppliers for merchandise, I bet you can find that on websites. The infomercial on late night for Ebay may have something different, but if you're just starting- stick to the basics until you are comfortable and need to advance.
